I will say I've always found it kind of funny that we can compress solids (something that isn't really possible), but can't compress gasses (something that is completely possible) |

Everything you just described is about removing gas from between solids, not actually compressing the solid itself. Neither solids not liquids can be compressed (under normal circumstances, ice being an exception). Gas on the other hand can be compressed up until it becomes a liquid. Maybe the ship can't do it in Eve, but no POS module (or the like) can either? If a rock comes in solid after being vaporized by a mining laser, then I'd imagine a gas that gets sucked in by a vacuum cleaner can be compressed as well |

If a rock comes in solid after being vaporized by a mining laser, then I'd imagine a gas that gets sucked in by a vacuum cleaner can be compressed as well Compression in eve is the act of putting more stuff in a fixed amount of space, which is what I'm talking about. If you want to bring in real world physics - start w/ how I can warp across solar systems. Phusics me that smartman. Compressing gas would be bad for business in wh space. If you want to to wh gas reactions in k-space... suck an egg.
I started off by saying it's not really possible. Sorry if you took this to mean in game somehow.
But since we've gotten to this point, mind explaining to me how something can be further compressed (your definition) than it already is when it gets sucked up by a freaking laser?
As for warping across a solar system, try tachyons. Enclose your bubble in a layer of them and move the entire bubble faster than the speed of light.
I don't particularly care about running reactions in kspace either way. My comment was an off the cuff response about something I found ironic. |
